I haven’t done one of these in a while.
I feel like, ever since I upgraded my existence to Spotify Premium, the way I discover, browse, cycle through, and just listen to music has become a faster process, as well as one that is difficult for even me to keep up with. At this point, when people ask me that vague get-to-know-you question, “What kind of music do you listen to?” I don’t even feel like I can answer it at all. I used to quickly list off some genres and name a few bands I’ve committed my life to, but now I just don’t even answer the question. I say, “I like what sounds good to me.” Which is true, accurate at any given moment, and actually pretty descriptive. And then, if we want to go into the nitty-gritty details, then sure, we can have that conversation about evolution and sound and how they are live, et cetera, et cetera.
Regardless, I still like to share what I’ve been hooked on. You never have an obligation to like or dislike anything. If I like what I like, then, of course, you’re 110% allowed to like what you like. Do that. Music is a personal endeavor that is meant to enhance life. *steps off soapbox*
Here is a band that I discovered recently as the summer days came to a close. They’re a relatively new alt rock band from Wisconsin. Think something along the lines of Two Door and Death Cab. Their sound is refreshing to me and super melodic, which I really like. Their most recent album was released last year, titled Electrogram.
This song is off a record that came out in 2013 called Gold.
